The Playful Heart
Sighs of delight will greet the news that Robin Trower is back with a brand new album of cutting edge performances that reach new heights of passion and imagination. Robin came to fame in the early Seventies with such albums as ‘Bridge Of Sighs’ and was quickly acknowledged as one of the most evocative guitarists and singers on the British rock scene.
After gaining experience in the Paramounts and Procol Harum, the lad from Essex quickly became an international star, once he had formed the Robin Trower Band and enjoyed great success in America with a succession of hit albums.
Still touring and recording after forty years, Robin’s latest CD ‘The Playful Heart’ offers a master class of guitar playing, matched by his own distinctive vocal style and he is backed by a superb group that plays with unerring sympathetic intensity.
Brilliantly produced by Livingston Brown, this 11 track CD unveils a seductive blend of well crafted songs and styles. They range from the upbeat title track to the slow and moody ‘Don’t Look Back’, the sensuous ‘Dressed In Gold’ and the spooky ‘Prince Of Shattered Dreams’. The memory of Jimi Hendrix remains a strong influence on the Trower sound, while his own blues-drenched musicianship remains as fresh and inspirational as ever.
