Playing For Time
Playing For Time celebrates the evolution of Tom McGuinness as a uniquely gifted solo artist. It presents a rich variety of songs, including the blues in many different hues. Carefully selected from his first two albums, together with tracks from a forthcoming new solo album, this unmissable CD highlights Tom’s virtuosity as a singer, guitarist and composer.
Renowned for his work with Manfred Mann, McGuinness Flint and the Blues Band, McGuinness says: “This compilation sums up what I love about the blues and R&B music and reflects all those influences. My song writing draws on the well of great American music, that I try to make my own.”
Among the standout performances, recorded in collaboration with multi-instrumentalist Marcus Cliffe, are Long Hard Road, That’s The Blues and How Lucky Can One Man Be. Tom gives a track by track summary in the informative CD liner notes by Repertoire’s Chris Welch.
